New product: Hurricane updates for US

In partnership with US local media group McClatchy, we have developed a Hurricane bot, which creates automated updates on data from the National Hurricane Center in the US. The bot was put to the test as hurricane Ian made land fall at the end of September (the image is from its land fall over the Carolinas).

The texts are published in McClatchy titles The Miami Herald (Florida) and The Sun Herald (Biloxi, Mississippi). The updates are published so that readers get a heads-up on the hurricane progress. They are a complement to the on-the-ground reporting journalists do once the hurricane hits, which constitutes the titles' main hurricane coverage.

The updates include things like direction, speed, location, changes with current advisory (since last update), summary of watches & warnings, hazards affecting land as well as quotes from the National Hurricane Center. Each text update carries a cone path image similar to the one shown here.

Our Hurricane product is now available in all US states.
